To Prime Minister Liz Truss

Organise members call for urgent and decisive action on the cost of living crisis

Open letter text

The cost of living is soaring and many of us are worried we simply won’t be able to pay our bills this winter. Even those of us in full-time work are struggling to get by - and with even higher fuel costs and rising inflation this winter, we’re not sure how we’re going to manage.

As a candidate running to become the new Prime Minister, you promised to take the country in a better direction - now you need to live up to this promise and deliver:

- Real help with rising energy bills - what has been done so far is not enough, and many of us will be unable to meet the costs of heating our homes this winter.

- Raise the minimum wage and benefits in line with inflation - so that each and every one of us can afford the same basic necessities this year as we could last year.

- A comprehensive plan to repair and strengthen our economy - the problems we’re facing as a society won’t go away without decisive action from your government. Within your first month in office, address the people of the United Kingdom with your comprehensive plan to turn this situation around and revive our struggling economy.
