I am writing to you as I am deeply concerned about lone working at the Co-op.

Co-op workers across the UK are already massively overstretched. Leaving them alone without anyone to help them if they get injured or threatened will make this even worse. It's not right and it's not safe. Shoplifting is on the rise and being forced to work alone carries more dangers than ever.

The reality is that failing to provide adequate staffing levels is damaging to your workforce, your customers, and ultimately, Co-op’s public image.

One worker said "The majority of feedback from Co-op employees is that there aren’t enough staff or hours for stores resulting in loads of unsafe and very stressful one on one shifts. Now you think it’s a good idea to introduce lone working?"

Don't let short-term cost-cutting undermine the brand's standing in the public eye. Making sure Co-op workers are safe isn't just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do for Co-op's future.
