I am writing to you as the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, expressing concern over plans by the previous government to replace Personal Independence Payments (PIP) with “vouchers”.

Please will you confirm that these plans will not go ahead, and provide a timeline for responding to the consultation that closed on 22nd July?

47,624 Organise members have signed the petition "Don't strip PIP cash payments from sick and disabled people!" and 98% of people think this plan is wrong.

"Having PIP means I can choose what I need. It gives me the freedom to decide what is suitable for me. It is a disgrace that people who are not disabled can take away my independence to make my own decisions."

“I have always worked as much as I can over the years but there is no safety net for me apart from PIP. I am so very grateful that I can use PIP to pay for my basic living needs. I can’t see how vouchers or a catalogue would work for someone in my position and it would limit independence severely. Limiting independence and choice in turn negatively affects mental health and self esteem which in turn reduces health, wellbeing and ability to work.”
