To Rishi Sunak
Please delay bounce back loan repayments by 12 months to give UK businesses a proper chance to recover from the pandemic.
Thousands of businesses can't fully reopen until July 19th. Pubs, restaurants and small businesses across the UK are already on the edge of a financial cliff.
The government's 'bounce back loans' were meant to last until businesses 'bounced back' from the pandemic. But now, the loans are starting to be due - even though we're still in lockdown. Small businesses are saying this is 'the worst time' for the bounce back loans to be due. [1]
Many businesses have been closed for months - we need Rishi Sunak to delay bounce back loans by another 12 months to allow us to recover.
Petition text
After over a year in lockdown and bounce back loans due now we have had no time for business to get back on their feet.
We ask Rishi Sunak to delay bounce back repayments for another 12 months to allow lockdown to finish and give businesses an opportunity to stand up on their feet again.
Over a year of lockdown with still no end has killed business and we need helping time for recovery
"People needlessly being forced to repay a loan which was intended to be repaid when they had recovered from the lockdowns, yet the lockdowns continue while the loans are becoming due. Madness!"
"I won't be able to earn money for another month. Feels like the final nail in the coffin."
"The travel industry will be no more by the end of the year."

The hospitality industry have urged the Government to offer a business rates holiday extension if ministers delay June 21. Pub Confederation's @GregMulholland1 : "This is the worst time. The bounce back loans have to be paid shortly. But businesses have not bounced back."
