Dear Low Pay Commission,
Please increase minimum wage to £12 an hour in 2022. You have the power to change millions of lives. Don't let billion pound companies get away with not paying people enough to live on.
Yours sincerely,
Why is this important?
Big companies like Primark and G4S only pay minimum wage - leaving millions of hard working people struggling to pay rent and bills. So whatever the minimum wage rate is will literally change millions of lives. The government usually only asks employers, but together we can make sure everyone has a say. [1]
The government just launched a consultation on what the minimum wage should be... so together we're going to answer them. This petition will be sent straight to the low pay consultation.
A few years ago the government introduced a higher minimum wage rate for all staff over 25 years of age calling it the ‘national living wage’. But this still isn't enough to live on. Together we can show the government what is really needed to get by so that everyone earns a wage that meets the costs of living.
Will you sign the petition demanding the UK raises the minimum wage to £12 an hour?
NOTES:
[1] Low Pay Commission consultation:
"We are seeking evidence on the effects of the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage, to inform our recommendations on the 2022 rates.
This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 18 June 2021. Read more.
Raise the baseline. Make minimum wage at least £12 an hour
Will you chip in?
Please will you chip in a few pounds to supercharge our chances of increasing minimum wage? Chipping in £10 shows the petition to 300 more people:
