To Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

The old State Pension is almost £50 a week less than the new State Pension. I was born in May 1952 and my husband in November 1951 - I get the old pension and he gets the new. There’s no hope for a couple who are both on the old State Pension of getting any benefit (Pension Credit) to help with the cost of living. Every increase in the State Pension raises the differential so that the gulf between the new and old rates increases. Why should one pensioner be expected to live on substantially less than another? Most older pensioners won’t have an additional private pension due to the banking crisis in the 80s/90s. Make one pension for all… it’s called EQUALITY… stop discrimination on the basis of age and sex!!!
