A standing charge is added to most gas and electricity bills by your supplier as a fixed daily amount that you have to pay, no matter how much energy you use. I feel that we are being ripped in more ways than one with the high charges for gas and electric and the inflated standing charges on the meters. Why are we paying these additional charges and why are they increasing them, when so many companies are already reporting record profits? We are paying enough for the gas and electric to stop these additional charges. The cost of living is already too high for workers and vulnerable people like pensioners. Talk about rip off Britain and we put up with it!
