To Tesco Leadership and Board Members

I work on the shop floor at Tesco. I spend my days rushing around, stacking shelves, helping customers, filling gaps, doing the night shift when no one else wants to. I take pride in doing my job well. But most weeks, I still can’t cover everything. I skip meals so my kids don’t have to. Last winter, I only turned the heating on when it was freezing.

Then I saw the news: our CEO, Ken Murphy, made nearly £10 million last year. That’s over 370 times what I earn. All while I’m worrying about how to afford the weekly shop in the very store I work for. That’s not right. And I know I’m not alone.

We make Tesco work. Every product on the shelf, every customer served, every store kept running - that’s us. And we deserve better.

We’re calling for two fair changes:
- Cap the CEO‑to‑worker pay ratio at 40:1. No more sky-high bonuses at the top while the rest of us barely get by.
- Pay all Tesco workers at least £15 an hour – a wage we can actually live on.

Tesco made over £2 billion in profit last year. The money’s there. The will just isn’t, yet.
