To Professor Sir Peter Mathieson
The University of Edinburgh has announced the appointment of Simon Fanshawe as Rector. He is a supporter of anti-Trans advocacy group LGB Alliance. As a proud queer person and formerly proud alumni of Edinburgh University I firmly believe that transphobia has no place in a modern society and appointing someone with these views creates a hostile environment for the many trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming students studying at the university.

We expect this appointment to be withdrawn and a true advocate of equality, accessibility, diversity and inclusion appointed.
