AI is already changing how we work, and a lot of us are feeling anxious about redundancies due to automation. But if AI is here to stay, then it's up to all of us to work out how everyday people will be protected and even benefit from new technologies.
There is a future where workers really feel the benefits, that's why I think more and more employers need to adopt the 4-day working week with no loss of pay.
At the start of the 20th century, workers fought for and won the five-day week. Productivity went up, not down. Now, with AI and automation reshaping nearly every industry, we're at that same turning point again. The four-day work week isn't a perk, it should be seen as the next logical step for all of us.
This isn't about working less. It's about working smarter and sharing the gains that AI and technology are already creating and making sure they're enjoyed more democratically.
