I don't know if my employer is using AI to decide my shifts, score how I work, or shape whether I get my next promotion. That's the problem, because most of us don't know, and right now, nobody has to tell us.

I'm genuinely concerned at the lack of regulation around AI. People are already using AI to generate videos, images and voices that mislead others. Whether it's an algorithm scoring us at work or a fake video shaping what we believe, the problem is the same. AI is being used on us without our knowledge, and there's no law that says it has to be honest with us.

In September, MPs and peers have called for a new AI law, tech bosses have warned things are moving faster than anyone can keep up with, and the Government turned down even a basic safety measure for dangerous AI. If the people building this technology are worried, I think it's fair that the rest of us are too.

The EU has already started protecting people from the worst of this but the UK hasn't. I don't want to find out the hard way what happens when the law hasn't caught up.
