To All major train operating companies

Rail firms have announced plans to close almost all of England’s ticket offices in order to modernise the railway. This has been supported by the government to save costs but this move will lead to thousands of job losses for rail workers.

It will also lead to rail travel being completely inaccessible for many who rely on travel assistance when catching a train, such as those with disabilities, those unable to use ticket machines or buy tickets on a smartphone, or those who are not familiar with the rail network.

Here's one person's story:

"I support people in wheelchairs with complex needs and learning disabilities. We need assistance regarding tickets and times as well as assistance getting on and off the trains. The staff are always helpful and some are even on first-name terms with our clients and have banter with them which enriches their day out. It makes them feel included in a world with enough barriers."

Please sign this petition to stop the mass closure of train ticket offices up and down the country which are so vital for keeping train travel accessible and safe for all!

Petition text

Train operating companies need to reverse their decision to close all train ticket offices.

In a recent poll conducted by Organise, it was found that a staggering 97% of over 40,000 respondents did not agree with the closure of train ticket offices. This overwhelming response reflects the huge public concern and opposition to the proposed actions!
