The previous government signed a trade deal with Trump that hands £45bn of NHS money to US pharmaceutical companies by 2036. University of York researchers estimate this will cause 229,000 avoidable deaths as funding is drained from the rest of the health service.
NHS workers are already running on empty. Midwives petrified someone will die on their watch. Nurses working double shifts to cover understaffed wards. Paramedics queuing outside A&E because there are no beds inside.
This deal means:
🔴 £45bn taken from NHS budgets, meaning fewer staff, worse conditions, and longer hours for the workers keeping the health service alive
🔴 Higher drug prices, as US pharma companies charge more than our health service can afford
🔴 NHS services outsourced to private providers, with profit put before patients and workers
🔴 A two-tier system, where those who can pay get seen first, and the workers who cannot are left behind
19 health groups have written to you calling this deal "deadly." Doctors. Patient groups. Campaigners. All urging you to scrap it before it causes irreversible damage.
You have said this is the last chance to save the Labour party. Workers are telling you it is also the last chance to save the NHS.
