To Clare Coutinho MP

Our autistic daughter has complex neurodivergent needs, emotional dysfunction, and has experienced rejection, verbal, and mental abuse in the mainstream education system. Yet she was forced to live up to hundreds of miles from home, far away from her family. The support system for children with mental health issues and neurodiversity is crumbling. There is a chronic shortage of beds and spaces across the UK which urgently needs to be addressed. Many children must wait up to 18 months to see a counsellor under the NHS. Families are being forced to use private medical support at their own expense while encumbered with the cost of living crisis.

Petition text

More funding for allocation of spaces around the UK.
Introduce a new law ensuring children are at least kept in their home country or county so families can see their children (where appropriate and in their best interests).
Better quality of training for staff in mainstream schools regarding ASD, ADD, ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions.
