To Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
Filipino NHS workers were targeted by rioters in Sunderland, leaving them "terrified" as they headed to work in taxis to provide emergency cover due to the escalating violence breaking out in the city by the far-right.
Over a decade of austerity coupled with the scapegoating of migrant workers and asylum seekers, has led to the violence we are seeing on our streets. Now is the time to change the narrative and stand in solidarity with us healthcare workers who are facing abuse or are too scared to turn up to work because of the threat of racist violence.

Petition text
These racist attacks on our colleagues can not be tolerated. The violence will only escalate if the government doesn't put in emergency measures to protect workers in the NHS and take decisive action against the far right now.
Healthcare workers are on the front lines and we are always ready to serve. But now we need your help to stay safe.
