To Venues, promoters and arts and entertainment industry bodies in the UK and internationally, including stadium owners like Robert Kraft's Gillette Stadium, and tour promoters like Messina Touring Group
Image credit: © Markus Felix via Wikimedia CommonsWithin days, the stadium owner where he'd spoken banned him, venues threatened to pull the whole tour if he stayed on the lineup, and he was dropped from Ed Sheeran's world tour lineup. Artists around the world watched one of their own get punished for standing against genocide.
Macklemore put it plainly: "Taking a side can cost you. Money, brand deals, sponsorships, festivals, private shows, relationships and access. I've lost all of those things". Most artists don't have his platform to fall back on.
Art has always been political. It has always been used to stand for what's right. But across the arts, people are being disciplined, sidelined or quietly dropped for showing solidarity with Palestine. And that has to stop.
Petition text
We want venues, promoters and arts institutions to stop punishing artists for showing solidarity with Palestine. No one should be dropped from a lineup, sidelined or quietly let go for standing against genocide.
Solidarity with Palestine is not grounds for losing your job, your booking, or your livelihood.
Stand with Macklemore, protect artists' right to show solidarity with Palestine
