To Alistair Cochrane, CEO Royal Mail
Our Postal Digital Assistant's (PDAS) track our every move, checking how fast we complete tasks and notifying our managers if we are too slow. Royal Mail have already had to backtrack on their use of workplace surveillance that they copied off Amazon, but still they constantly monitor us. Our vans are tracked and our PDAs are used against us if we stop for 5 mins, talking or sorting - it tells our managers. Being constantly monitored in my job is so stressful, it puts unnecessary pressure on the brain and the body, as I feel I am constantly on edge. Added pressure and being constantly under potential scrutiny means we're being watched like children when we should be trusted by our employer to do the jobs we were hired for. I love being a postman but being constantly monitored is making my life worse.
