At Arriva, bus driver shifts are very long - we have to work 12 to 13 hours a day including 2 hours' unpaid break. If you include travelling to work, we can work 14 to 15 hours a day for 10 hours of paid work. We don’t have time with our families which puts a lot of drivers at risk of divorce, or we end up separated from our families, because they think we don't care about them. Such long hours can also put drivers and our passengers at risk of accidents. Bus drivers at Arriva deserve reasonable shift lengths with a maximum of 8.5 paid hours a day for all drivers, regardless of how many days they're working.

Reasonable shift lengths for all Arriva bus drivers, up to a maximum of 8.5 paid hours a day. For bus drivers who need more hours, they should be able to book paid overtime.
