To Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt, MP
Having a pension increase of a couple of thousand pounds by bringing me onto the same level as other younger pensioners would make a big difference.
Petition text
Having two levels of basic State Pension is unfair and penalises older pensioners, who, through being born before an arbitrary date, receive considerably less in their state pension that those younger pensioners, who are often more likely to be able to find work to supplement their income.

The McCloud judgement of 2018 may show that this discrimination is illegal
A judgement in the case of McCloud v. NHS (2018) showed in the Court of Appeal, that discrimination on the grounds of age regarding the treatment of pensioners is illegal and this may be the basis for taking the government to court to get this anomaly in the current legislation changed.
Unfortunately, this costs money and I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest a way to get any possible court action funded or if there is a solicitor and barrister willing to act 'pro bono' on our behalf. Thanks.
Two levels of basic State Pension is grossly unfair.
