To Andy Burnham, Prime Minister
I work in an office where I've been asked to use AI for everyday tasks and I feel like I can't refuse. I worry that it is learning how to do my job from me, so that it can ultimately replace me. Not only would I then not have a job, I will have been de-skilled, as what I know now is permanently worth less when a machine knows it too. I know it sounds hypothetical, but it is already happening. Thousands of people have already been sacked from their jobs as AI replaces them and we need better rights and protections now, while we still have some power over what AI models learn. We all need the right to refuse to use AI models, so that we are in control of what they know. We should be able to refuse to train these machines without fear of reprimand or losing our jobs.
