To The Secretary of State for Transport, Heidi Alexander
I drive for Uber to pay my bills, support my family, and keep my independence. This September, that could all change because Uber is planning to launch driverless taxis on UK roads this September, even though they're still not properly safe for use. No consultation with drivers and no conversation about what happens to the hundreds of thousands of us who depend on this work.
93% of Uber drivers are worried and nearly 4 in 5 members of the public say they wouldn't even get in a driverless taxi. So who exactly is this for? We're not against progress, we're against being replaced overnight.

Petition text
We're calling on the UK Government to:
- Pause the September 2026 driverless taxi rollout until the public has been properly consulted
- Guarantee no driver loses their job without a fair transition plan
- Publish an independent safety review before driverless vehicles carry passengers at scale
No driverless taxis until we're consulted
Thanks for signing! Can you please share the petition with as many people as you can?
No, sorry
