Petition text

To Esther McVey, Minister for the Department of Work and Pensions,

Nobody should lose their carer's allowance simply because they start receiving their pension. Carer's allowance helps thousands of families across the country take care of their loved ones.

Please change the law to ensure that carer's allowance is always ringfenced, and not considered an 'overlapping benefit'. Anyone receiving their pension should still recieve all of their carer's allowance.

Sincerely,

Carers, pensioners and Organise members

Why is this important?

When pensioners lose their carer's allowance, many are forced to make extremely difficult financial decisions. They're put under even more pressure to make ends meet whilst taking care of those that matter most.

Plus, without carer's allowance, the person being cared for is more likely to need support from the NHS, which costs even more.

It's essential that people reaching their pension age are allowed to keep their carer's allowance. Please sign to make sure carer's allowance doesn't get taken away when you take a pension.
