To Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions
Why we're campaigning
We work hard keeping staff safe, putting our safety on the line, and we're paid barely more than the minimum wage. On the weekends, when we could be with our families and resting, we get paid no extra and it's a disgrace
Petition text
All G4S workers, contracted to the DWP and Job Centres, deserve more pay at the weekends to carry out an important, sometimes dangerous job. We demand time and a half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays.
Why is this important?
Being a security guard takes training, skills, hard work and we're often put in danger. Without security guards, government workers in DWP would be at risk. You'd think that working for the Department for Work and Pensions would mean getting paid the living wage as minimum and more at weekends – that's what the work deserves!
Pay G4S workers time and a half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays
