To Andrew Peeler CEO of Yodel and Martijn De Lange UK Manager of Hermes,
Give couriers full employment rights including payment of the national minimum / national living wage. This should be backdated to the 2012-2013 financial year as a measure of goodwill to current and former couriers.
Signed,
Your employees and customers
Why is this important?
"Even when I was bitten by a dog, I was expected to work" - Organise member and petition starter Michael
Yodel and Hermes use self-employed contractors to deliver parcels. These couriers are expected to work six or seven days a week for very little money and with no sick or holiday pay. They even expect the couriers to find their own cover for sickness and holidays.
These couriers should be given full employment rights and should be paid the national minimum / national living wage. And it should be backdated to the 2012-2013 financial year as a measure of goodwill to current and former couriers.
This is important as it would mean that the couriers are recognised as employees and they would receive employment rights. Yodel and Hermes would also be complying with current employment laws.
Please add your voice.
Make Yodel and Hermes take all couriers on to their payroll
Will you chip in?
