How support funding works for our pupils we support and how that impacts our one and viability and job security as members of staff?

A negotiating body could advocate for fair and competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of my role, helps address cost-of-living increases, and ensures equity across the organization.

Pay to workload match i.e when you cover / teach a class.

Yearly paid salary in line with teachers

Inner London waiting allowance for all school in London

techicnical support isnt a classroom support but shoul be

All support staff in SEN school to get SEN pay like teachers.

Sick pay

Being on a salary wage, not pro rata

Lack of support for SEND children. This often becomes quite isolating when support staff are left to manage children with difficult needs.

More funding for SEN schools that provide tailored support without the funding that used to come with it.

Afterschools pay. No summer pay or sick pay.

Teachers have to work 1245-1255 hours a year, and are not scrutinized for their working day. Support staff are accountable for EVERY working minute, they are taken out of classrooms to have early lunch, then made to do lunch duties. Teachers have planning time, HLTAS don’t, and are expected to do planning, as an HLTA, I am expected to write my curriculum. Which is way above my pay grade

Pupil and staff mental health.

Recognition of long service. I have been in my role for 15 years but on same money as new starters with no experience

Work outside at children's play we feel we are the n, we feel

Fair pay amongst schools in academy’s.

Protection from violence

An end to TTO Term Time only contracts and better pay

Addressing ways in which to deal with violent, abusive pupil behaviour.

Should be paid minimum £15 hourly

Respect for support staff

Wellbeing. Being better valued.

Support for sen children, a sen friendly school, trauma informed practice, to make challenges less exhausting. We should not face reapplying for our jobs like we do at the moment. It's a cut throat environment to work on and with budgets cut for sen the support staff will be even more needed to help children regulate and learn. Schools are scarily underfunded now. Any pay increase must not come from their budgets. d

End term time only contracts as this impacts predominantly women’s pensions

Higher pay for SSA due to the nature of their job

As a 6th form college, we are not on the same payscale as schools. We need pay parity across the whole educational system!!

Better SEND training, staff cover and resources

Recognition and pay increase for the many times we are asked to teach/cover whole class lessons.

We need a change in insurance policy as the risk to us compared to someone sitting behind a desk is much greater in a special needs schools. Daily risk a higher for accidents then a person sitting behind a desk.

Access to a better work-life balance, eg possibility of switching to 4 days per week.

Support staff being physically assaulted and not supported

A better maternity leave package

SEND support for children who are in main stream schools but should be in special provision

Children’s behaviour and safety towards support staff, covering teachers PPA time and when teachers are absent for training etc

Better support with challenging behaviour

Free of attacks and violence

Not having the class on my own for no extra pay a lot of the time .

Union rep in the school

Like for like with teachers on allowances such as London weighting and SEN allowance

We have no real representation at school. The role has changed beyond without any recognition.

Term time contracts being all year round

Better pay for support staff in sen schools. We have to put up with so much challenging behaviour and care needs gor our pupils it should be paid more to encourage staff work in sen environment as we put up with all the bad behaviour and there diagnosis especially ie being autism, adhd or emotional etc

Sen allowances

I am a non-teaching deputy head of year and should be paid 52 weeks of the year as I’m expected to safe guard and support pupils and their families all year round.

Looking at experience of support staff and paid accordingly

To help us keep from harm

More staff

Not to lessen staff ratio with special needs ,they need alot of support. I work in a school with students who require suction, naso feed ,gastro feed ,personal care ,feeding and administration of alot of medications and no pay to match this

Opportunity and support in seeking the right to be re-graded/promoted instead of limited and held back in an ever changing and demanding role where, because you are not teaching staff, you do not have the same routes to pay rises and acknowledgement of the work that you do.

more recognition for Support Staff

A push for higher wages, and protections on workload

Quick responses and solutions to issues such as violence in school

a phone in room, security on site

Higher pay for what we're expected to do and deal with hourly rate is less than supermarket checkout person.

A safer working environment and fairer pay

Better pay

More support for SEN. The ratio of staff to SEN is not fair on the staff or the children.

Stop being used as whole class cover. Stop being used for 1:1 unless that’s the job you signed up for. Stop being used at lunchtimes. Stop being expected to manage extreme behaviour. Stop being expected to put up with being verbally and physically abused by pupils

Fairer pay, zero violence to staff policy

Higher grade of pay

Better pay

Fair pay

Better pay deal

When covering classes, pay to reflect the teaching and support for sen children while covering. Plans to be given in advance.

I feel we should be given a set amount of sick days as these sick bugs are inevitable also a bereavement day at least think its very unfair we don't get paid either

When covering classes, pay to reflect the teaching and support for sen children while covering. Plans to be given in advance.

Not pro rata pay

The work load and safety with working with children that physically hit you

Better pay and a decrease in workload that support staff are expected to do outside their contracted hours.

I would expect to see an overhaul of the outdated job descriptions that Teaching Assistants and other school support staff are employed under.

Pay awards. Pro rata changed, we lose pay for 8 weeks a year when colleagues in the council has kept their flexi time benefit.

Voices would be heard and pay would be fairer.

Do you feel that access to flexible working arrangements from day one would benefit you as a school staff member?

Better pay for special needs schools

Support staff across the country, work extremely hard throughout the day completing daily tasks and additional tasks that is not in the role of a teaching assistant. We deserve better pay!

look at techinical support in classes

Look at our work load, what we deal with SEN, I'm bitten, hit, kicked, sworn at daily. On top of educating, qualifications I have. Pay is not enough to live on.

More complex needs coming into mainstream schools

I would like them to consider the pay grades/scales of support staff in relation to what we actually do. Schools are now set up in a way that means we cannot run a school without support staff yet we are underpaid for what we do and our job descriptions (where I live) were written in 2005!

Pressures, admin, teaching, supporting always gets passed down to staff that are already working out if hours to get the jobs done

Fair pay and there needs to be more staff supporting children's needs.

Decent pay

As above

Fairer pay, to recognise that the role of support staff has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. Our work load & expectations has increased 10 fold for very little pay.

Better pay

Being treated fairly and being moved over to salary wages

A job that is one of the lowest paid, where we are often classed as unskilled yet we are teaching children

52 week pay, we work hard for little pay.

Are there specific groups within school support staff who face unique challenges that should be prioritised by the negotiating body?
